The Midnight Black covers provide a full matte black finish that visually unifies the console with the original model's glossy (piano black) center panel. They are manufactured from high-density ABS plastic with a micro-grained texture that is less prone to reflections and glare than the stock white. Unlike third-party covers, these retain the micro-engraved PlayStation symbols on the interior and ensure that clip tolerances are perfect, preventing plastic "creaking" due to thermal expansion. The bottom plate design for the disc model respects the optical drive's aerodynamic curve, maintaining the aggressive and monolithic aesthetic that defines this version.
